Caregiver Stress

Data:
Client met with the therapist for a 30-minute session at the office. Client presented feelings of being overwhelmed with caregiver responsibilities. She reported feelings of stress and exhaustion with limited personal time. Client stated, "I feel like I’m losing myself in all of this." Interventions applied included discussion on self-care and setting boundaries, along with exploration of practical ways to take breaks and delegate tasks.

Assessment:
Client appears to be struggling with balancing caregiving roles, exhibiting signs of stress and a sense of losing her identity. Acknowledgement of these challenges suggests increasing awareness which is pertinent to the client's treatment goals.

Plan:
Client’s homework: identify a daily enjoyable activity and schedule time for it. The next session is scheduled for next week to follow up on the client's implementation of the self-care plan.

Ummm, she said she’s been feeling stressed and exhausted and doesn’t have much time for herself. She said, "I feel like I’m losing myself in all of this." We discussed the importance of self-care and setting boundaries. We explored some practical ways for her to take breaks and delegate some responsibilities. Client’s homework is to identify one activity she enjoys and schedule time for it each day. She seemed relieved to have a plan and eager to implement it. We’ll follow up in our next session next week.
