You can now create your own documentation templates at Quill!
We've been working on this for a while -- testing, refining, getting feedback from some truly thoughtful therapists -- and we're really excited to share it with everyone.
This new feature lets you build templates for anything: intake assessments, supervision notes, custom progress notes, termination summaries -- whatever you need. You tell Quill how you like to structure your documentation, and it will generate it using that structure. (Same AI magic, just with your format.)
Wait, what's a documentation template?
It's just a flexible structure that Quill follows when generating your notes.
You define the structure and details of your template, and Quill uses that template to shape the output -- which you can then copy-and-paste into your EHR, just like any note you generate at Quill.
When creating a template, you just need to define the names of the sections. You don't need to explain each section or fill out a giant form. You're just telling Quill the structure -- the rest gets handled automatically, and Quill generates a first draft for you to review and edit.
Why we built this
Because every therapist has different needs when it comes to documentation!
Some therapists like SOAP, some like DAP, some want to structure supervision notes or initial assessments differently. We heard things like:
"I want to use Quill to generate my intake assessments!" or "I wish I could add an extra section to my progress note!"
So we listened and built that.
Who it's for
Basically everyone. If you're using Quill (free trial or subscriber), you already have access to this.
It's especially helpful if you:
- Want to use Quill for more than just progress notes and treatment plans.
- Wish you could tweak the format of your notes to meet your employer (or insurance) requirements.
- Work in a group practice and want consistent templates across your team. (Because you can share your templates with your team!)

There's no pricing tier or add-on required. If you've got a Quill account, you've got custom templates. Unlimited custom templates.
